WebMar 29, 2015 · Bought mine used with just over 10,000 kms, same issue with the deceleration head-shake at around 80km/h. On a smooth road I could also feel, ever so slightly, a bit of play when braking hard. I had the front tyre replaced and the head bearings tightened and now have zero head shake. It could have been the tyre, but I doubt it. WebMay 27, 2014 · The steering head bearing might be loose or warn.You can check it by putting a scissor jack under a solid place on the engine and lifting the front tire just off the ground. Then getting hold of the wheel about the front of the fender and try to lift the wheel, if you get any upward movement the bearing need to be tightened or replaced. Just because the impact was to the front, it doesn't mean that something in the back wasn't bent or knocked out of alignment when the bike went down. WebNov 3, 2010 · There's a chance you are causing the front-end to wobble or shake due to fighting the front end's natural tendency to move around a little bit on hard braking. If it's still doing it with a light grip on the bars and loose elbows/arms you should have the head bearings checked for tightness and also inspect the rotors for any warpage. bromike666
WebSep 23, 2024 · Could be a bad tire but the most common cause of front end bar shake is the bad stock steering stem bearings. Replace these with Allballs roller/needle bearings. This is not that hard to do but takes some knowledge, at least one helper and preferably two, and a couple of special tools.
