Grizzly 660 backfiring
WebDec 27, 2011 · Senior Member. I have a 2005 Grizzly 660 that is having a few problems. First, the thing sat for quite some time and was not ridden very often by the previous owner. When they tried to crank it it gave the a hard time so they removed and cleaned the carb. After putting it back together, it will crank but ONLY with FULL CHOKE. I took my clamps off and filed a little off of the spacer, raised my needle height to the 4th position, and rejeted (due to a pipe). He went mudding with it one day and when he went to take it out for the next ride, it sounds like it backfires when in reverse, through the carb, and it just doesn't go in reverse but at a snail pace. I have a question about backfiring problems on my '01 600 Grizzly. It won't idle and when I push on the throttle it backfires then shuts off. Filter is clean and just put new plugs in and the plug housing is clean as well.
WebReason 3: Exhaust leak. Exhaust leaking before it exits the system will result in a lower back pressure, which may cause the bike to run hot. Look for loose clamps, damaged donut gaskets, or even holes or cracks in the pipe. Repair or refit to see if this improves things. WebApr 10, 2024 · Don't use Shindy (China) carb kit jets. Move the wire harnesses while trying to BRAAAAAAAAAAApppp. Check the gas cap for proper pressure/release operation. You said "you bought this thing and it was running OK". Changing jets will compensate for the slip-on, but the slip-on isn't causing the problems you describe.

Re-jetting is always necessary when opening up the airbox, but you can often survive a small exhaust change by just upping the pilot circuit's fuel flow a bit. If this isn't ... Had to unbolt it and rev the snot out of the motor for a bit to blow out carbon build up. It ran better after that too. Mar 10, 2010.

You may need to swap the washers on the needle and then definately find the correct main during wide open throttle.
