WebJan 28, 2012 · They found it was OK to descreen it when the MAF was inline with the TB. They left the screen on all MAF sensors with any bends in the intake ahead of the TB. With the MAF sensor in front of the TB (like on an SSRI3/RAISS-type intake), it's more easily excusable to descreen it. Ideally, you'd finish doing what GM did, and also recalibrate it. WebMar 6, 2006 · Before the MAF is a screen of wire that is supposed to straighten the airflow or something really technical like that. It's a big restriction for airflow. If you make "similar" changes in the intake of WRX (de snorkel), you can lean the engine so that it'll blow. My Mazda RX8 did really well... You'd be much better off with a tuck maf or the zo6 mainly because the map's for them are out there and will not need to be created for scratch.
